Western University: Translating research

into health innovations

Western’s Medical Innovation Fellowship program at WORLDiscoveries provides hands-on training in the creation of new health technologies, including clinical immersion, problem identification, solution ideation, and the opportunity for fellows to launch startup companies. BioNext is Western’s MedTech incubator where ideas are further translated into commercially viable innovations. Located within Robarts Research Institute, BioNext provides founders access to facilities for prototyping, analytical testing, validation, preclinical development, as well as scientific and clinical expertise. Working together with Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry’s Clinical Research group we leverage our research relationships across partner organizations to facilitate access to clinical experts and to enable clinical trial development.

Medical Innovation Xchange: Turning prototypes into medical devices

MIX is Canada’s first industry-led hub dedicated to helping medical technology startups scale successfully in Canada.
